If efficiency and economy are your goal, the TSS 18-inch wheel and tire package is designed around exactly that mission. Downsizing from the factory 19x9.5" Model Y wheel to the 18x8.5" TSS reduces both wheel mass and tire frontal area while maintaining Tesla-specific fitment.
At approximately 22.9 lbs per wheel, the TSS saves about 7.6 lbs per wheel versus the referenced factory 19-inch setup, for approximately 30.4 lbs of wheel-weight reduction per vehicle. The narrower 18-inch tire also reduces frontal area compared with the wider factory tire, supporting a more efficiency-focused setup.
The smaller 18-inch wheel diameter creates room for additional tire sidewall, improving ride comfort over rough pavement and increasing cushioning against pothole impacts. The taller sidewall also provides more wheel protection against curb contact than larger-diameter, lower-profile setups.
One square 18x8.5" wheel fitment with the two tire-size paths standardized in our Model Y 18-inch package template. Choose the tire size that best matches your priorities for range, ride comfort, handling and curb protection.
Tire availability varies by size and current inventory.

The TSS 18x8.5" wheel is one inch smaller in diameter and one inch narrower than the referenced factory 19x9.5" Model Y wheel. The reduced wheel mass and narrower tire frontal area are designed to support efficiency-focused driving.
At approximately 22.9 lbs per wheel, the TSS saves about 7.6 lbs per wheel versus the referenced factory 19-inch wheel, reducing wheel mass by approximately 30.4 lbs per vehicle.
The narrower 18-inch package reduces the tire's frontal area compared with the referenced factory 19-inch Model Y tire, helping reduce aerodynamic resistance around the wheel and tire assembly.
The smaller wheel diameter provides room for a taller tire sidewall, adding cushioning over rough pavement and potholes while increasing wheel protection compared with larger-diameter, lower-profile setups.
TSS wheels are manufactured using a Flow Forged process and tested to JWL, VIA, SAE J2530 and TÜV standards.
The 18x8.5" square setup uses the same wheel and tire size at all four corners, allowing conventional front-to-rear tire rotation.
The TSS is an efficiency-focused 18-inch alternative to the factory 18-inch steel wheel, 19-inch Model Y wheel, 20-inch wheel and 21-inch Performance wheel. View our Tesla Model Y Wheel Guide.
