    Installation Instructions

    1

    Choose Your Plate Height

SnapPlate+ is shipped in the high position by default. If you prefer the center or low position, make that adjustment before attaching your license plate.

    2

    Attach Your License Plate

Secure the license plate to the SnapPlate+ frame using four of the supplied black or silver Torx security screws.

    3

    Open the Mounting Latches

Press the left side of the SnapPlate+ actuator. This rotates the mounting latches into their open position.

    4

    Insert SnapPlate+ Into the Grille

Position the mounting mechanism in the center section of your Tesla's lower grille and make sure it is fully seated.

Center the mount carefully before engaging the locking mechanism.
    5

    Lock SnapPlate+ in Place

Press the bottom side of the actuator to rotate the mounting latches into the locked position.

If the actuator is unusually difficult to close, or if SnapPlate+ feels loose once locked, use the Grille Depth Adjustment procedure further down this page.

    6

    Confirm the Lock

Check that the actuator is flush with the SnapPlate+ body. This confirms that the locking mechanism is fully closed and the magnets are engaged.

Give the plate holder a gentle pull to verify that it is secure.

    7

    Optional Anti-Theft Security Screw

For additional security, install the supplied black anti-theft screw in the hole located on the right side of the SnapPlate+.

Do not overtighten. The anti-theft screw only needs to be snug in order to function properly.
    8

    Automatic Car Washes

Remove SnapPlate+ before entering an automated car wash. Touchless washes are generally less likely to interfere with the mount, but removal is still the safest option.

    Plate Height Adjustment

SnapPlate+ can be configured in multiple vertical positions so you can fine-tune the appearance of the license plate on your Tesla.

    Center Position

Provides a balanced location between the high and low mounting configurations.

    Low Position

Positions the plate lower for owners who prefer a lower-profile appearance.

Model S Note: 2021+ Tesla Model S vehicles use a longer lower bumper lip that interferes with the low position. Model S applications therefore use either the high or center position.
    1

    Select Your Preferred Position

SnapPlate+ arrives in the high position. T Sportline recommends retaining the high position when possible because it leaves the greatest amount of grille area unobstructed.

    2

    Remove the Plate Mount Screws

Remove the two screws that connect the license plate frame to the mounting joint.

    3

    High Position

Align the bottom holes of the license plate frame with the mounting joint and reinstall the screws.

    4

    Center Position

Align the middle holes of the license plate frame with the mounting joint and reinstall the screws.

    5

    Low Position

Rotate the plate mount 180 degrees, align the appropriate holes with the mounting joint, and reinstall the screws.

The low position is not available on compatible 2021+ Model S applications because of interference with the lower bumper lip.
    6

    Install Your License Plate

If you have not already done so, secure your license plate to the frame using four of the included black or silver Torx security screws.

    Grille Depth Adjustment

Minor variations in grille thickness can require adjustment of the SnapPlate+ rotating latches. The included Torx tool allows you to fine-tune the fit.

    1

    Configure the Torx Driver

Remove the T10/T25 bit from the screwdriver handle and reinstall it with the smaller T10 end facing outward.

    2

    Locate the Latch Adjustment Screws

Locate the T10 Torx screws positioned in the center of each rotating mounting latch.

Loosen the latches if the mount is too tight. Tighten them if the mount feels loose once installed.

    3

    If SnapPlate+ Is Too Tight

Turn each T10 adjustment screw counterclockwise one-half turn.

Each half-turn extends the latch approximately 0.25 mm.

Pull each latch gently with your fingers to make sure it has extended, then test the SnapPlate+ on the grille again.

Repeat in half-turn increments as necessary, up to a maximum of two full turns.

Important: Do not loosen the latch adjustment screws beyond two full turns. Excessive adjustment can allow the mount to become stuck in the grille and make removal difficult.
    4

    If SnapPlate+ Is Too Loose

Turn each T10 adjustment screw clockwise one-half turn.

Each half-turn tightens the latch approximately 0.25 mm.

Reinstall the SnapPlate+ and check the fit. Repeat in half-turn increments until the mount locks securely without requiring excessive force.

Correct Fit: SnapPlate+ should sit securely against the grille while the actuator remains easy to operate. If excessive force is required to close the actuator, adjust the grille-depth setting rather than forcing the mechanism.
