In the USA, Tesla has build Model Y in two factories, Austin - Texas and Fremont - California (side note, international Model Y are built in factories overseas, which are not the same as USA-spec vehicles either!). Originally, Tesla was building all Model Y in the Fremont factory. But when Austin came online, the Model Y was added to the production line. Even though the Model Y looks and feels the same, not all components are the same. When it comes to 'will this T Sportline product fit my Model Y', if the build factory matters, we list two version of the product for sale - a version compatible with the Model Y from Fremont, and one for a Model Y from Austin. You can easily identify which factory build your Tesla Model Y as follows:
Check your Model Y VIN's 11th digit (or 7th to the last) for the following code:
A = Built in Austin, TX
- Example: 5YJ######RA######
F = Built in Fremont, CA
- Example: 5YJ######RF######
