Elie Rothstein, VP Sales and T Sportline answer the question: Will an 18” or 19” wheel fit a Performance Tesla Model 3? The short answer is yes.
This particular car has T Sportline 18” wheels because the Tesla Model 3 Performance owner wants to own two sets of wheels and tires, for good reasons. 20” for the summer and 18” for the winter. Read on to see why.
The 20” wheel and tires are for summer months. They have high performance, and great seasonality in the summer, but when the winter comes, that 20” tire is not snow rated. The owner is not going to be able to safely drive in those winter conditions. Having an 18” winter tire or a snow-rated all-season tire solves that problem. A great example of a snow-rated all-season tire is the Michelin CrossClimate 2 tire, which is approved for use on a Tesla.
There are a few reasons why this tire is a wonderful solution. Let's start off with the three-peak snowflake symbol that's on the sidewall of this tire. This means it is certified for snow conditions. Not all all-season tires are certified for snow. Fortunately, the Michelin CrossClimate 2 is. The three-peak snowflake is one of the many reasons this is a desirable new tire for a Tesla owner. Caution, not all other winter tires have three-peak ratings!
In addition to 18”, Michelin also makes this tire currently in 19” and 20”, suitable for the 2012-2020 Tesla Model S. They don't have it for other Tesla models yet, but that's probably coming.

Newly delivered Teslas typically have all-season tires or high performance summer tires. If it's an all-season tire it's capable for most seasons. If you're getting real snow downfall, all-season tires are not going to perform well or safely for you. If you have a performance car you definitely need to consider an all-season tire or a dedicated winter tire if you live in those types of weather conditions.
This Michelin CrossClimate 2 performs wonderfully in summer months and warm weather. It has a unique rounded tread pattern that provides proper good contact. Where it really excels is when it starts getting wet and when it's raining. This is due to the tire’s unique tread pattern. When water comes down, it just kicks it off to the sides. You'll also notice that the tire has a lot of tread blocks (cuts). The more tread blocks (cuts) the tire has, the better it will perform in the snow.
This particular tire uses the complete width of the tire to grip onto the snow. Additionally, what you also see is a unique rubber compound similar to winter compound. The difference is that it's combined with a tread pattern similar to a summer tire.
Basically, this tire is going to perform really well in all four-seasons for your Tesla Model 3, 3 Performance, 3 Long Range - any Model 3! We really hope that Michelin makes more of these CrossClimate 2 tires for the rest of the Tesla Models out there.
