Tesla has launched a pilot program for a virtual queuing system at five high-traffic Supercharger locations to manage congestion and reduce driver conflict. When a station is full, vehicles are automatically added to a digital waitlist, with real-time updates and estimated wait times displayed on the car’s touchscreen and the Tesla app.
The pilot includes the following locations:
- Los Gatos, CA – Los Gatos Boulevard
- Mountain View, CA – El Monte Avenue
- San Francisco, CA – Lombard Street
- San Jose, CA – Saratoga Avenue
- Bronx, NY – East Gun Hill Road
While the system supports both Tesla and non-Tesla EVs, it currently operates on an "honor system." The software will alert drivers if they attempt to plug in out of turn, but it does not physically or electronically block them from charging. Tesla plans to use feedback from these sites to determine if a broader rollout is necessary.
