Tesla has recently published its fourth-quarter vehicle production and delivery report for 2022.
Despite an ongoing supply chain crisis, Tesla managed to set a new delivery record in the last quarter of 2022. Of the 439,701 vehicles produced in Q4 2022, it delivered 405,278 units. This number combines the sales of the Model 3, Y, S, and X. Tesla's total production for 2022 stood at 1,369,611 vehicles, with 1,313,851 deliveries being recorded.
According to the official report on Tesla's website, more units of the Model 3 and Y were built in the last quarter of 2022 than previous quarters. But while this is good news for the automaker, it still came up short compared to Wall Street estimates of 431,117 deliveries in Q4 2022.
The Model 3 and Y have remained Tesla's top-selling vehicles, and it's safe to say that pricing plays a big role in helping them maintaining that title. Compared to the Model S and X, the 3 and Y are less expensive and now qualify for the federal tax credit worth up to $7,500.
However, with cheaper EVs available to buyers, Tesla might need to cut prices further to retain its market share.
