Panasonic is going to build a battery cell factory in Kansas to supply Tesla with the new 4680 cell.
Earlier this year, it was rumored Panasonic was looking to make a factory in Oklahoma or Kansas.
In April, it was suspected that they were going to choose Oklahoma since the governor started to urge the legislature to approve $700 million in incentives towards the EV industry.
However, Kansas' department of Commerce beat that and said Panasonic is eligible for $829 million in incentives
Nikkei, a reliable Japan-based publication was first to report,
"Panasonic Holdings will invest several billion dollars in a second U.S. electric vehicle battery factory in Kansas to supply a new high-capacity battery for Tesla..."
Now the governor of Kansas has confirmed that Panasonic's factory is as the largest business investment in the history of Kansas.
This location will be beneficial to feeding its supply of batteries to Gigafactory Texas.
