Tesla recently introduced two new paint colors, Quicksilver and Midnight Cherry Red, for Long Range and Performance trim Model Y, to replace Multi-Coat Red and Midnight Silver Metallic. Unfortunately, these stunning new colors are currently only available for European and Middle Eastern customers.
According to Tesla, who announced the new colors through a series of social media posts:
It is their "most advanced paint system yet, allowing up to 13 layers for depth, dimension & a hand-painted look."
One major thing to note is that the new colors do come at a higher price. Previously, silver was €1,600 ($1,583 USD) and red was €2,000 ($1,979 USD), whereas now Quicksilver is €3,000 ($2968 USD) and Midnight Cherry Red is €3,200 ($3,165 USD).
While these two new colors are exclusive to the Berlin paint shop, let’s remember that Tesla rarely offers features only in a given region. By offering the same parts and features across all of its factories, Tesla reduces costs through scale. Upgrading paint shops would come at a significant cost, so it's not surprising that Tesla isn't rushing to do this and may decide to couple it with other changes down the line.
