Tesla has officially confirmed an invite-only event in Austin scheduled for September 3, 2026, branded with the promotional title "Exclusive Access: Cybercab." The event will offer live access to top scorers from Tesla's Robotaxi rider sweepstakes, alongside a public livestream. The launch marks the introduction of the Cybercab to the existing driverless Robotaxi hailing service Tesla has operated in Austin since June 2025.

Technically, the Cybercab operates using the same Full Self-Driving (FSD) software stack as the Model Y robotaxis currently in service. Designed specifically for efficiency, the Cybercab weighs 3,113 lbs, utilizes a 48 kWh battery, and is rated at approximately 165 Wh per mile. While this dedicated design offers reduced energy consumption per mile compared to the Model Y, it accommodates a maximum of two passengers with no driver controls and minimal cargo space.
